Divorcing SIN

Charles Spurgeon said; “There must be a divorce between you and your sins.  Not a mere separation for a season, but a clear divorce.”

Too often we claim to give up sins, and the Bible even tells; “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”

We are to REPENT of out sins and focus on God!

We can ask ourselves the following questions:

1. Have I experienced the repentance  that characterizes genuine salvation?

2. Does sin in my life bother me?

3. Am I willing to call my wrong actions “sin” rather than viewing them as merely weaknesses?

4. Am I more concerned about grieving God than about the consequence of sin?

5. Am I willing to accept personal responsibility for my actions?

6. Am I willing to make restitution for my sins?

7. When is the last time I experienced genuine repentance, resulting in a change of attitude and behavior?

8. Has God convicted me of any specific sins that I have never truly repented of?

Dealing with sin in the proper ways affects every day of our lives!  Do we love GOD more or sin more?  True repentance is to seek to cease from sin.
